A plan for a large group home for people affected by substance abuse and addiction is scheduled to have a public hearing during today s meeting of the Fort Wayne Board of Zoning Appeals.
The filing includes few details.
Indiana Teen Challenge, which lists a post office box in Elkhart as its address, has applied to convert an 18,000-square-foot building on West Rudisill Boulevard. The building is former headquarters of The Missionary Church. First Missionary Church is along Rudisill to the west of the property.
No telephone number for the program is listed in the application. The local representative is listed as Rob Kruger, a Fort Wayne attorney. He did not return a call seeking more information. ....

$28 million slated for city infrastructure improvements

Nearly $28 million in neighborhood infrastructure projects will begin soon, Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry announced today.
“Thoughtful and sound planning by the Public Works Division has helped advance our efforts to maintain and improve our infrastructure,” Henry said in a statement “As we continue to collectively battle the COVID-19 pandemic, I m appreciative and grateful that we re in position to be able to do so much work in our neighborhoods.”
In addition to about $23.8 million in streets and roads improvements, $2.5 million will be spent on sidewalks and alley repairs. Another $1.4 million will go toward bridge maintenance projects. ....
