Blue Earth – Sandra Giese, age 77 of Blue Earth passed away Saturday May 1, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth with Rev. Matthew Lorfeld officiating. Visitation was one hour before the service at the church. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth. Online condolences can be left at www.pattonfh.com.
Sandra Kay Vogt was born in Blue Earth on Jan. 18, 1944. The youngest of the four “Vogt Girls” as they were known. She was supposed to be the boy that her dad wanted for help on the farm. Although she helped some while growing up, instead she chose a path to serve those that farmed. That was the farmers that always had her great respect and she was able to work at a job she loved. Sandy attended country school district 29 in Faribault County through the third grade and when it was closed, she moved on to attend the Blue Earth public school graduatin ....

CLC among group awarded $3.5 million to implement conservation measures


The money will fund a five-year conservation project focused on 20 counties across the state of Minnesota.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service awarded the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and project partners, including Central Lakes College, $3.5 million to implement conservation measures on irrigated lands.
The money will be awarded through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program and will fund a five-year project focused on 20 counties across the state of Minnesota.
“This precision irrigation project will have a major impact on our regions in two ways: First, we will offer training and exploration sessions on this new technology including demonstrations of the technology where producers will be able to experience it,” said Keith Olander, executive director of AgCentric and Agricultural Partners ....
