WEST LAFAYETTE – From the Air Force to Coshocton County EMS to West Lafayette mayor – so has been the path of Stephen Bordenkircher.
“I entered the Air Force close to the end of Vietnam,” he recalled. “I worked as a firefighter, a member of the Air Force Crash Rescue. Then after the Air Force, I worked as a volunteer EMT with Coshocton County emergency medical services for 16 years.
“In my younger years,” he summed, “I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be a mayor.”
Now 67, Bordenkircher was born and raised in Coshocton, graduated from Coshocton High School in 1972, then while in the USAF graduated with a degree in business management from the US Air Force College of Aerospace Science, Los Angeles City College.
