It was a busy day yesterday as storms turned into severe weather. Several funnel clouds and tornadoes were spotted across eastern iowa. The National Weather Service Reports a brief tornado touchdown that happened in Hardin County triggering warnings in grundy, butler, tama, bremer and marshall counties. A tornado was also reported near Grundy Center in grundy county. While it does sound strange to talk about tornado touchdowns in november, they happen in iowa more often than you think. The National Weather Service Tells Us 41 tornados have touched down in november here in iowa over the last 35 years. But more than half of those fell on just two days. Cedar Rapids Police say half of targeted homes and cars arent even locked. In addition to that, police saieves arent just looking for cash and electronics anymore. The cases of counterfeit and forged checks have doubled in the last year. Investigators say some checks are washed or erased and then copied or forged for huge amounts. Banks encourage customers to use checks with high quality paper and even ink thats hard to erase. They say also helps to have a bank that knows you. Were always looking for anything that might be out of the norm for ou say theres a big gap in checking sequence for example or a large amount thats been written on an account that our customer typically wouldnt do.
