Dr. Bonnie Henry reported 559 cases of Covid-19 in BC yesterday, which included 43 in Interior Health. There were no new cases at KGH. Since the beginning of the outbreak there have been almost 78-thousand cases in the province. About 56-hundred vaccines were administered yesterday to bring the total to almost 225-thousand. The people authorized to give vaccinations has also been expanded to include pharmacists, dentists, midwives and other health technicians.
Canada’s chief public health officer says results from covid vaccinations so far are encouraging enough that she thinks the need for massive lockdowns could be over before the end of summer. But Dr. Theresa Tam says some of the more personal measures, like wearing masks and limiting close contact outside our households, may be with us for a while. She says anything resembling a normal life will depend on new variants and how quickly vaccines are injected. ....
