High Wycombe school set for big change: Desperately needed

Possible contenders for Buckinghamshire Council leader

The 10 to watch - who will lead Buckinghamshire Council? The first Bucks unitary elections are over and the results are in – the Conservatives have come out on top, taking 113 seats and the overall majority at Buckinghamshire Council. The next step is for the controlling party to name a man or woman to lead the council for the next four years. Former leader Martin Tett, who was elected in the Little Chalfont and Amersham Common ward, confirmed at the Chiltern count on Saturday he would be putting himself forward for the position again. Our sources also told us challengers are expected to vie for his position as the group will decide who it could be – but there has been confirmation on rumoured names.

Plans for 122 new flats on Abbey Barn Lane refused

Plans for 122 new flats on Abbey Barn Lane refused PLANS for 122 new flats for people aged 55 and up have been thrown out by the council. Berkeley Homes Ltd has been refused permission to build two separate “age restricted” apartment buildings on part of the Abbey Barn South site, on Abbey Barn Lane, in High Wycombe. The decision was taken during a West Buckinghamshire Area Planning Committee, on Tuesday (April 27). PICTURED: What the new build might have looked like  A motion was proposed by Cllr Sarfaraz Raja and seconded by Cllr Chris Whitehead. The 1.8-hectare area, which is close to the Daws Hill Lane bridge crossing of the M40, would have comprised 71 one-bed and 51 two-bed flats for use as an Extra Care Facility (for people in need of care) – 122 in total.

Bucks Council approves replacement garage in Wooburn Green

There is no loss of privacy for any neighbours, despite concerns there will be, it adds. The new garage will ‘span the width of the plot’, which is six metres, a council document states. PICTURED: Access to 25A Butterfield  The site was in the ownership of 24 Butterfield and remained so after the property was sold. A 2002 application for a replacement garage was refused on grounds it would have a ‘detrimental and adverse impact’ on neighbours and the area. However, this was later appealed and permitted, but it was not implemented and has since lapsed. The size and location of the replacement garage is similar to that approved at appeal, a council document states.
