WELLSVILLE A new, mobile pizza option is coming to the Village of Wellsville this spring and summer.
Max’s Pizza Plus, founded by Gregory Elliott, will offer pizza, breadsticks, cookies and beverages at various places around the village, made fresh in Elliott’s pizza trailer. The village board approved Elliott’s peddling and soliciting application Monday night, green-lighting the new venture to begin serving food May 1.
Elliott launched the business as he prepares to “semi-retire” from GST BOCES.
“My father was a baker all his life and actually taught here at Alfred State College,” he said. “My brother owned a bakery down here on Main Street for quite awhile. I always thought I’d get into some type of food business.”

WELLSVILLE The Village of Wellsville is preparing for a major bridge replacement project set for this summer.
The arched Madison Street bridge over the Western NY & Pennsylvania Railroad will be torn down and replaced during the construction season. Allegany County first approved design work for the new bridge in 2018 and the project is coming to fruition this year.
Village DPW Superintendent Bill Whitfield said the county is expected to award the bid for construction work this spring in March or April. The county has estimated the project will cost just over $2.5 million. Sometime this summer Madison Street will close and remain closed until the project is completed, said Whitfield, who estimated the project will take 12-18 months. They have a considerable amount of work to do there.

The Wellsville Daily Reporter
WELLSVILLE The public comment period on the Village of Wellsville Police Reform and Reinvention Plan opened Monday, and the early returns are encouraging.
During Monday night’s village board meeting, Mayor Randy Shayler read an email from a resident thanking a Wellsville police officer for going above and beyond the call of duty. The officer, PJ Sherman, stopped to help a soon to be 80-year-old resident chip ice from her driveway on a frigid January day. The email was written by the woman’s daughter.
