Special counsel jack smith as part of smith s investigation into donald trump s attempt to overturn the 2020 election. notably, the judge ruled that pence will not have to testify above matters pertaining to his role as president of the senate on january 6th. but he will have to provide testimony about trump s attempted coup more broadly as well as any potential illegal actions by the ex-president. pence has previously vowed to fight this vee subpoena all the way to the supreme court if need be. so it is likely he will appeal the ruling. but we ll see. but as of now it stands. and of course this order from a federal judge comes less than a week after a separate federal judge ruled that someone else close to trump must comply with one of jackson s subpoenas. last wednesday a federal appeals court took the rare step of piercing attorney/client privilege. ....
