Here s a republican facing reelection, chastising people in his own party in the house. what s going on here? well, basically the house of representatives is without a leader. mr. boehner is not the leader. he s a puppet run by the tea party. and he s like a weathervane. whoever he talks to, he agrees with them. then he talks to the second person and he agrees with them. he s spinning in so many directions, nobody knows where they re doing over there. and pulling the strings is mr. cantor with the tea party votes to really destroy the speaker. congressman, are you saying here tonight on politics nation that the speaker, in your opinion, is a puppet and that eric cantor is the puppeteer that is pulling the strings and that s what we re watching here? well, it s what it looks like. he goes out and makes a ....
People are worried. they are nervous. you have to prove the point the president delivered on that. we are not running against a nameless faceless republican. we are running against newt gingrich whose record is clear. he wasn t able to run the government in washington. running against mitt romney who is for this thing and against that thing every other day. he s finally going to iowa. it s a great place for a guy that is a weathervane. one of the biggest challenges we have is he s got an enormous amount done against a republican party that is united against a goal of stopping barack obama. we ll go out and tell that story. i have a lot of confidence in the american people. i think we are going to chat with you again next hour. don t go too far. thank you. big developments in egypt. ....
President fox when 9/11 happened. and that of course, put everything off the rails. and got us into the point where we are today, where it s gone south from there. my worry is that because of arizona, the president obama democrats may feel compelled to try to push legislation right now. and i frankly think that s the worst possible time to do this in an election year. because you re going to have the fringes dominating the debate. it doesn t make for good policy. my hope is that the justice department and the courts will look at the constitutional issues and then hopefully when things quiet down after the election, we can look at this with a sober attitude and look at it in a compassionate way that embraces american ideals. well what do you make of john mccain s sort of windmill performance here? or weathervane performance? why is he shifting over to the hard-line, further out than tancredo, perhaps position on immigration? because he stayed in the senate too long. there s a time t ....
And in the 60s and 70s and what happened when john mccain tried to run for president and so on. that means that when the people who get hurt by an adequarian historically view of the constitution, gays, women, minorities, when the people who get hurt are those guys, he s an originalist but he s a fair weather originalists. because when people who get hurt are ted cruz by that philosophy, he s kind of a weathervane on that subject, a fair weather originalist. what makes this really important, the reason i got into it wasn t that i had an ax to grind about ted cruz or that i was looking forward to having donald trump quote me. it was because i care about the constitution. ted cruz claims to care about the constitution when he studied it at harvard, he was at least consistent about it. ....
