Today, we got the release of the letters that went between lord geidt resigning and borisjohnson saying, ok, thanks, bye . and this is where we ve learned a bit more about what was going on. so, if you look at lord geidt s letter, he says: what do we know about what the government s intention was? well, this is what s so strange because when we talked last night, we said, well, what has happened between him giving evidence to those mps where he was asked about resigning? what s happened between that and now? and although we have a little bit more of a clue, it s not entirely clear but it does seem to be about a trade issue. it seems to be about the government s desire to basically extend tariffs on we think, but we don t know for sure steel imports to protect british industry. now, the question is, does that potentially break international rules trade rules? and if it does, is that breaking potentially the ministerial code or not? so, it s a slightly odd one, ....
What do we know about what the government s intention was? well, this is what s so strange because when we talked last night, we said, well, what has happened between him giving evidence to those mps where he was asked about resigning? what s happened between that and now? and although we have a little bit more of a clue, it s not entirely clear but it does seem to be about a trade issue. it seems to be about the government s desire to basically extend tariffs on we think, but we don t know for sure steel imports to protect british industry. now, the question is, does that potentially break international rules trade rules? and if it does, is that breaking potentially the ministerial code or not? so, it s a slightly odd one, actually, probably not the answer we would have come up with when we discussed it yesterday because, of course, the other things have all been ....
File photo MANILA - A ranking Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) executive said Thursday while wage and fare hike proposals have been made due to fuel price increases, the government is not remiss in alleviating the public's welfare. "What is important, we think, is that the government is pursuing firm measures to temper the impact, the negative impact of the increase in oil prices," BSP Department of Economic Research managing director Zeno Ronald Abenoja said in a virtual briefing aired over the central bank's Facebook page. Various transport groups have filed for fare hike petitions while the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) have petitioned for a PHP470 increase in minimum wage rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) amid oil price increases in the international market, which have impacted domestic fuel prices. However, officials of various departments have discounted the need for these hikes and instead recommended, among others, the implementation ....
WASHINGTON - The US urged North Korea to halt "provocations" after a recent test launch was determined by regional countries to be an advanced hypersonic missile. "It is, we think, incumbent on the DPRK to cease these provocations, to demonstrate that they too are interested in, and serious about, this dialogue, and if they are they will find a willing counterpart in the United States, and our allies, as well to engage in this dialogue," State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters, using an acronym to refer to North Korea by its formal name. Price maintained that the US places no preconditions on the resumption of negotiations with the North. Tuesday's ballistic missile launch was the second of what the North said are newly-developed hypersonic missiles. South Korea also said it appears the launch was of a hypersonic missile hitting speeds of more than Mach 10, or about 7,700 mph (12,400 kph). Following the launch, South Korea expressed strong regret at ....
