Apr 13, 2021 Briana Fetters, a senior member of the Zane Trace FFA Chapter, was recently named the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by the Ohio FFA Foundation and the Ohio Horseman’s Benevolent and Protective Association. This scholarship program began in 2016 as a partnership between the Ohio FFA and Ohio’s Thoroughbred owners and trainers. Each year, 24 FFA members from around the state are selected for the scholarship based on responses to essay questions about how FFA has shaped their lives and the impact the scholarship will have on their future. Briana plans to pursue a pre-veterinary Biology program at Capital University with a future goal of obtaining at Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Ohio State University. ....
Apr 1, 2021 September 10, 11 and 12 Adena Mansion and Gardens will once again become the place to hone your skills as a rookie crime solver in an entertaining atmosphere filled with great food and a mystery. This year s mystery, “Attempted Murder” is an all-new original production written and directed by Delmar Burkitt. The grounds open at 5:15pm and the mystery will begin at 6:00pm. After you gather your clues, dinner will follow at approximately 7:00pm. Tickets are available at $50 per person for AMGS members and $55 for non-members. Admission includes both the mystery and the dinner. Prizes will be awarded each evening at the conclusion of the program. ....
Apr 1, 2021 The Chillicothe VA Medical Center will hold a virtual listening session with stakeholders on April 12, 2021, at 8:30 a.m. to hear from Veterans and the communities VA serves. This is one of 50 public virtual listening sessions across the country from March through June 2021 to hear from Veterans on how to design a health care system of the future and grow services for Veterans in a way that reinforces VA’s role as a leader in the U.S. health care system. “We want to hear from Veterans and other stakeholders in the communities VA serves and understand their vision for VA health care,” said Dr. Kathy Berger, Medical Center Director. “VA’s goal is to collaborate closely with Veterans and other stakeholders to build the best VA health care system that meets the needs of Veterans today and for generations to come.” ....
Apr 1, 2021 Dr. Jim McKean, OHIO Chillicothe Associate Professor of Law Enforcement, was recently awarded an RHE Workforce Success Initiative grant. Dr. McKean proposed a project titled the Southern Ohio Public Safety Workforce Development Training. The project’s goal was “to initiate a model of public safety workforce development training utilizing available instructional resources from Ohio University Chillicothe to meet the needs of local law enforcement officers in our service region.” New initiatives to improve workforce opportunities in the Appalachian region have been made possible thanks to a new project spearheaded by the Executive Dean for OHIO Regional Higher Education (RHE). ....
