Gouldsboro selectmen approve access path to flats
GOULDSBORO Selectmen cleared the way Thursday night for the creation of a footpath enabling the town’s Shellfish Committee, clammers and public to access the water and flats on the eastern shore of Prospect Harbor.
The board heard both support and concerns at a public hearing before voting 5-0 to advance the project on the town’s ¾-acre shorefront parcel on Lighthouse Point Road.
Lack of a parking area, potential trash, further land erosion and possible liability arising from the trail’s users were the main issues raised by neighbors and some local residents in attendance in-person or via Zoom at the meeting held in the Prospect Harbor Women’s Club building.
