WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) â The demolition process for a downtown Wausau building begins on Monday.
Wausau Opportunity Zone Inc. (WOZ) the owners of the Wausau Center Mall have announced that demolition on the property will begin Monday, May 17th. Thatâs according to a new community communication campaign launched by the group and public relations and marketing firm AMPERAGE Marketing & Fundraising called Get Downtown, Itâs Refreshing!
The communication campaign will keep residents and businesses alike update on the changes coming to Downtown Wausau. The updates will consist of a website and other digital-based updates. The first update was released on Friday afternoon saying construction fencing will go up around the Wausau Center Mall on Monday.

WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) â The closing of a major downtown structure has been moved up by a few days in Wausau.
According to a press release from Wausau Opportunity Zone Inc. (WOZ), the Wausau Center Mall closed its doors on Monday, April 5th. The mall was originally scheduled to close on April 10th, at the end of the week.
The release states that the last retail tenant in the building closed its doors on Monday, effectively closing the mall in its entirety. The press release goes on to say, âA key part of downtown Wausau enters a new and exciting chapter.
