PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KAIT) - A 15-year-old student accused of fatally shooting his classmate at Watson Chapel Junior High School on March 1 appeared in court on Monday, according to KATV.
Thomas Quarles is being held on a capital murder charge awaiting to be formally charged.
A judge told Quarles a decision on charges he could face from the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney had not been made.
Quarles will be back in court on May 19.

The 15-year-old student shot during an Arkansas school s first day back died from his injuries on Wednesday.
The Pulaski County coroner s office confirmed the boy s death to the
Washington Examiner on Thursday. The Arkansas teenager, who Watson Chapel School District identified as Daylon Burnett, was shot at Watson Chapel Junior High School on Monday, the school s first day back to in-person learning after being shuttered amid water issues.
Law enforcement said the suspected gunman is also 15 years old. He is being held on a $1 million bond and has been charged with first-degree battery. His charges are expected to be updated following the death of the victim.
