North Watford Labour members Asif Khan, Richard Smith, Bilqees Mathoor, and Dennis Watling, spent the weekend picking up litter along the busy St Albans Road. They also took their rubbish bags and litter pickers to Callowland, Harebreaks, and Goodwood Recreation Grounds, as well as Orchard Park. Cllr Khan, who organised the event, said: We litter picked the main parks in North Watford on Saturday and along St Albans Road on the Sunday. It was also good to mark Global Environment Day with clearing up our local parks too. ....

The more so as he suggests he has found the secret of meeting the Government’s targets of 800 new homes a year in Watford without having to build upwards! What a shame that he hasn’t deigned to turn up and share his magic solution at any of the regular meetings where we have discussed housing options as part of Watford’s local plan preparation. ....

Last month, North Watford county councillor Asif Khan said he was told by Hertfordshire County Council that a section of St Albans Road – a road riddled with potholes - would be resurfaced. Watford Labour said no date had been set, but now further enquiries by both the Liberal Democrats and Watford Labour have in fact revealed no resurfacing work is scheduled. As a result, both parties have set up separate petitions calling for the road to be resurfaced this year as a matter of urgency . ....
Some Liberal Democrat councilors have been seen delivering some letters around Watford. Most recent advice issued by the government on how to make local elections on May 6 “safe and secure” during lockdown has suggested that traditional leafleting campaigning can be carried out by delivering leaflets through post or commercial delivery services who are already operating - without causing additional circulation of campaigners. However, revised leafleting advice in the wake of easing restrictions is expected to be announced soon. But under the current restrictions, there has been a debate of leafleting as Liberal Democrat activists were accused of handing out political leaflets, instead of entirely relying on a delivery service. ....
At a planning committee meeting on Wednesday evening, councillors unanimously gave the thumbs up to the scheme. Watford mayor Peter Taylor said: We are extremely excited to be launching Greenhill Works. Supporting our local businesses and creating the right environment for them to flourish is absolutely vital and a top priority for the council. Our local businesses are the lifeblood of our town, creating jobs and prosperity and keeping the town vibrant and successful. A key part of this is providing the right spaces and conditions for them to thrive and grow. To do this we have to offer high-quality spaces and places that people want to work in. Our aspiration for the redevelopment of this gateway zone at the entrance to the Park is that, as well as attracting new businesses to the area, it will act as a catalyst to regenerate the rest of Watford Business Park. ....
