Dogs Allowed Back In Town From Sunday 1 August

From Sunday 1 August our four-legged friends will be
allowed back into Blenheim’s CBD as the new Dog Control
Policy and Dog Control Bylaw 2021 comes into
effect.
Animal Control Subcommittee Chair, Councillor
Jamie Arbuckle says the Marlborough community is passionate
about dogs and dog access to public places.
“The
submissions received during the recent bylaw review reflect
that and it’s fantastic that dogs will be allowed back
into the CBD provided they are on-leash and under control at
all times,” he said.
“It’s important for owners
to note that dogs will still be prohibited in Seymour Square ....

Where dogs once roamed: Scenic Snout Track becomes 'on-lead' only

Loma Puata, out walking her friend’s dog Iti, doesn’t think dogs off-leash would pose much risk to other Victoria Domain users.
Dogs will soon no longer be allowed to roam freely on a popular walking track that meanders out into the Marlborough Sounds.
The most scenic parts of Picton’s Victoria Domain will, from August 1, be “on-leash”, with dog walkers wondering if the tighter restrictions are necessary.
The move – part of the same bylaw that is opening up Blenheim’s CBD to dogs – is to protect mountainbikers and the biodiversity of the domain. But mountainbikers already have their own mountainbike tracks, and dogs are already banned from those regardless of on-leash or off-leash. ....
