NIN Registration: Nigerian govt shuts NIMC headquarters
The NIMC opens 20 centres in Abuja to attend to those who want to register for their NINs.

The Nigerian Government has ordered the closure of the headquarters of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Abuja.
The spokesperson of the agency, Kayode Adegoke, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
This directive was issued by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, the statement said.
New centres
Meanwhile, the NIMC will open 20 locations in the Federal Capital Territory to help reduce the crowd gathering at the commission’s headquarters to obtain their National Identity Numbers.
The Federal Government has ordered immediate closure of enrolment activities at the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Headquarters, Abuja and the reactivation of 20 centers within the FCT to make the process of NIN enrolment much easier from Monday, January 18th 2021.

The National Identity Management Commission has closed its headquarters in Abuja against all National Identity Number enrolment activities.
The move is not unconnected to discouraging large gatherings at the centre amid the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to NIMC Spokesman, Kayode Adegoke, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, gave the directive on Saturday.
Adegoke said the minister reactivated 20 other centers within the FCT to make the process of NIN enrolment much easier for applicants effective Monday, January 18 2021.
He advised members of the public, residents and visitors to the FCT wishing to enroll for NIN to use any of the 20 NIMC centers.
