Indiana Senate committee advances Lake Michigan water safety bill

The Indiana Senate Natural Resources Committee voted unanimously on Monday in favor of a bill requiring increased beach safety measures along the state’s Lake Michigan coast. Senate Bill 253 would mandate that the owner of a pier or public access site on the lake install rescue equipment, including at least one ring buoy.
