From previous storms that helped you deal with what you saw today? well, as the saying goes, practice makes perfect. i mean from hurricane matthew in 2016, you know, our facility, our area took on a lot of water. we were saturated prior to the storm coming in, and all the rain that matthew brought just brought tremendous amounts of flooding that kind of isolated not only areas of our county, but neighboring counties and made it difficult for everybody. and in turn, that made it difficult for staff to get here. so one of the greatest improvements that we ve done is in addition to having a water failure from a local water utility company, we ve improved greatly in our staffing for our employees as well as we ve mitigated hopefully potential water utility loss problems. yeah. one of the things that sometimes we forget about is the people like the workers at the hospitals who have to continue to be there, serving the community during the storm. ....

Because there s so much that needs to be done there. no question. i don t understand why the president is obsessed with the number, frankly. it was a devastating storm. we all agree on both sides of the aisle, the storm one of the most devastating to hit any part of the united states ever. they had massive electrical failure, massive water failure, almost all roads were impassable, devastating by any measure. you can easily see how loss of life of magnitude found by researchers could occur. the most important thing a federal government can do in the aftermath of something like this is exactly what fema director brock long said they did, which is study it, learn from it, and update procedures and protocols for the future. so the real issue here for the president is not the numbers, not the statistical death toll, what did we learn from the aftermath of the storm, how are we applying it to future storms. that s what the american people want to hear. it would be best for him to take tha ....
