A Portmarnock community activist has mounted a legal challenge against development of a €500 million wastewater treatment plant at Clonshaugh, which will see 300 million litres of wastewater discharged into Dublin Bay each day, with an outfall piple leaving the shore at Portmarnock. Sabrina Joyce-Kemper, who is a descendant of author James Joyce, is part of group of campaigners opposing development of the plant in North Dublin. A recent High Court victory for the group has led to planning permission for Irish Water s plant being quashed, but while Ms Joyce-Kemper welcomes the ruling, she acknowledges it is just the beginning of a long and protracted battle. ....
