Katsina Utd stun Wikki Tourists 5-1 to brighten survival hopes


Rasheed Ahmed scored a brace in the 35th and 74th minute while new signing Samuel Nnoshiri and Samuel Kalu scored a goal each to complete the rout.

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) resumed from the mid-season break and it was Akwa United that moved to the top of the table while Rangers claimed bragging rights after beating Enyimba in the Oriental derby.
Another talking point of the MatchDay 20 was Katsina United mauling of Wikki Tourists to move out of the relegation zone.
Akwa United climbed to the top of the NPFL log after edging Sunshine Stars 2-1 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo. The Promise Keepers took an early lead through Atshimene Charles in the 20th minute but the lead didn’t last long as Sadiq Yusuf equalized for Sunshine Stars in what is his 8th goal of the season. However, Akwa United sealed all three points when Seth Mayi scored the winning goal in the 68th minute. ....

Akwa United Extend Unbeaten Run, Rangers Beat Enyimba In Enugu


 
Midfielder Seth Mayi scored his first goal of the season to secure a 2-1 win for Akwa United over Sunshine Stars and extend the unbeaten run of the Promise Keepers to ten matches as action resumed in Nigeria Professional Football League.
Mayi who was voted the club’s best midfielder in the first stanza of the league confirmed his quality when he scored from close range in the 68th minute.
Charles Atshimene shot the hosts into an early lead in the 20th minute. Two minutes later, Atshimene gave a fine pass to Mfon Udoh but his strike was stopped by goalkeeper Ariyo. ....

Wikki Tourists bus catches fire, players escape on the way to Dakkada FC game in NPFL


The bus did lose two tyres at Hawan Kibo – a town near Jos, Plateau State just before the fire started and then the players got out of the vehicle.
As at the time of filing this report, all efforts to reach out to management of the team on this incident proved futile.
