'Out of abundance of caution' Washington Dept of Health pauses use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine

OLYMPIA, Wash – The Washington Department of Health has decided to pause use of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, following CDC/FDA guidance about its safety.
Federal health authorities announced Tuesday they recommend a pause in the use of the J&J vaccine because of six reported cases in the United States of a “rare and severe type of blood clot” people developed after receiving the vaccine.
All six cases were in women between 18 and 48 years old and developed between six and 13 days after the vaccine was received.
“Right now, these adverse events appear to be extremely rare,” the CDC and FDA said in a statement. “COVID-19 vaccine safety is a top priority for the federal government, and we take all reports of health problems following COVID-19 vaccination very seriously.” ....
