When Tomuri-Dinsdale met with a funeral director in Whangārei, she was told the least expensive package would cost about $5500.
“Mum has always been a hard-working Kiwi woman,” Hoban said.
“She has had to work hard her entire life just to stay afloat, so she doesn’t have any savings.”
To try and make things cheaper for the family, Tomuri-Dinsdale has chosen to be cremated to avoid the cost of a burial plot.
