The move comes in respone from a lawsuit from several media organizations, including abc news, to release the secret documents, citing the public s right to know why the search was about thorized. the justice department had resisted, saying they are very concerned about the safety of the witnesses and warning the release of the affidavit would provide a roadmap to a criminal investigation that is still in its early stages. but the judge said he was inclined to release the material, and gave doj the right to redact portions of the affidavit that could jeopardize the investigation. he understands that the public is going to likely be entitled to some parts of this warrant application and its affidavit. reporter: last week, doj said the redactions would need to be so extensive they would render the remaining unsealed text devoid of meaningful content. but today, the judge approved the proposed redactions, saying prosecutors had shown a ....
