Officers are involved in the investigation. As for Pouria Zeraati himself, well, hes a really high profile tv presenter for Iran International. Thats a Persian Language tv news station. Its based in london, but its available all around the world, including in iran. And i should add, iran denies any involvement in this attack but previously it has said it considers Iran International a terrorist organisation. And Pouria Zeraati is now out of hospital and he and his wife are said to be in a safe place under the police s supervision. But clearly, the whole story raises broader questions about the safety of iranian journalists. And weve got one of them with us here. Sima sabet used to be a presenter on Iran International. Shes also worked on the bbc world service. Thank you so much, sima, for coming on the media show. Thanks for having me on your show. Youre very welcome. I wondered first, in terms of your situation, what impact did fridays attack on mr zeraati have on you personally . Wha
We saw photographs of you last year, shackled, as you were Given Health Care while still in detention. I just wonder what impact that experience has had on you physically and mentally. It really affected me to the most difficult depth. I have been maltreated as if im a terrorist. I was not given the basic standards that are granted to prisoners, in terms of both International Law and in terms of domestic law. The way i was maltreated is that they never wanted me to get peace. And also they never wanted me to get on with my proper mental strength. So thats why they have been shackling me at every turn. There is not any moment when i was visited at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison when i was not shackled. However, i dont want to continuously lament on this because there are several other zimbabweans who have gone through worse treatment by the same regime that has been there since 1980, others who went as far as losing their lives, when they were in a democratic, in the democratic strug
I prefer to look at the opportunity. And in the last year, weve had modelling that shows well lift 100,000 children out of poverty, weve had statistics just last month showing that weve had Record Numbers ofJunior Doctors joining the nhs, weve had statistics that show that school leavers, Record Levels are going to positive destinations. And just in february, at the turn of this year, weve seen that private Sector Employment growth is outstripping any other nation or region of the uk here in scotland. So challenges plenty. 0pportunities plenty as well. And thats why, probably, because of that success, the last two polls that have come out, of course, have shown the snp in lead position come a general election, whenever that may be. What about, if i may, the shadow and the uncertainty that comes with, i have to say, an Extensive Police investigation into quote Potential Embezzlement And Fraud at the heart of the snp. Its an investigation which has, of course, involved your predecessor,
