Whitecross crime hotspot transformed into community garden

THE transformation of a neglected piece of land in Whitecross which had become a magnet for anti-social behaviour into a community asset is now complete.
The community garden was officially opened on Thursday by police and crime commissioner for Cheshire John Dwyer, Warrington South MP Andy Carter, members of the Whitecross community and pupils from Evelyn Street Primary School
It was previously identified as a problem area through resident surveys as part of the Central Six Masterplan, with a desire emerging to use the disused land for something that would help to build community spirit.
Now complete, the garden will involve residents, churches, Sacred Heart, Evelyn Street and St Barnabas primary schools, Warrington Disability Team and other local voluntary charities. ....
