Organizers also provided a free lunch for those in attendance. LIMA Linda Scott, founder of Ella B’s home for women, along with Derry Glenn, 6th Ward Lima Councilor, organized an event Saturday at Kibby Corners Park to call attention to the mental health services that are available in the Lima community. “May is Mental Health Month and this is my first annual walk for Ella B’s. I plan to do this every year. I just wanted to show how important and how mental health needs to be supported,” Scott said. ....
Council hires officer to respond to junk car complaints By Sam Shriver - [email protected] LIMA The City of Lima will soon have an officer dedicated to the enforcement of junk vehicle violations and other vehicle violations. Lima council, on its first reading, approved legislation establishing the position of a part-time Vehicle Enforcement Officer. That position will be filled by an Ohio certified peace officer. The officer will work around 20 hours a week for up to 38 weeks for a total of 760 hours per year. He or she will be employed between March 15 and Dec. 31 and be paid up to $19,650. ....
Eviction deadline looms, remaining tenants have nowhere to go By Sam Shriver - [email protected] Jalina Rucker, who rents at this apartment building at Elm and Kenilworth, is being evicted by March 1 with no place to go. She receives help from MET Housing but can’t find another suitable apartment to rent. Jalina Rucker and two others received a second eviction notice on Wednesday to vacate their apartment by March 1. LIMA Jalina Rucker had the privilege of the floor at Monday night’s Lima City Council meeting and presented a tale of woe, one in which council members themselves had no answer. ....
