City Walk Homeless shelter is attempting to launch as a full-time homeless shelter; however, it has been met with resistance from the Tallahassee City Council.
The mission is an Urban Mission group that provides aid and basic human needs to homeless individuals and ex-convicts, according to their website. They provide shelter during cold nights, hold community meals and provide several services to the community to aid homeless and convicted individuals.
According to a meeting summary released by Tallahassee’s Growth Management Department, the shelter was not granted access to operate as a full-time homeless shelter because of zoning and location concerns. One concern in a report released by the department was the effect the homeless shelter would have on the surrounding neighborhoods and businesses.  ....
