Representatives from two rural schools and one playcentre in the Bay of Plenty say a blanket approach to speed limits is needed to keep their kids safe. The Rotorua Lakes Council s strategy, policy and finance committee will hear submissions on the Speed Limit Review 2021 tomorrow.

Nearly 550 cyclists from the Far North to Southland will descend on Rotorua this week for the Vantage Age Group Road National Championships.
They include riders from under-15 years to senior, Masters from 35 years to over 75 years, and para cyclists for the three-day competition, organised by Cycling New Zealand and supported by host club Cycling Rotorua.

Speed limit changes on more than 50 roads around Rotorua, including outside some rural schools, could be out for public consultation pending council approval. At a committee meeting last week, Rotorua Lakes Council s Strategy, Policy and Finance Committee recommended the full council consult on changes to speed limits around the area.
