TERRE HAUTE, Ind. Charges have been filed against the suspect in the ambush and killing of officer Greg Ferency. Ferency was shot at a federal building in Terre Haute Wednesday, July 7 and died from his injuries.
According to court documents, Shane Meehan, 44, is charged with the murder of a federal agent. If convicted, Meehan faces up to life in prison.

Indiana State Police and Terre Haute Police Department officials have confirmed the death of a Terre Haute Police Department officer after being shot at the Terre Haute Federal Building located at 1st Street and Wabash Court, behind the Vigo County Courthouse.
The events leading up to the shooting at approximately 2:30 p.m. are currently under investigation.
Police have not released the identity of the wounded officer pending notification of family.
Further details are limited at this time due to the investigation.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WISH) A Terre Haute Police Department officer who was part of an FBI task force was fatally shot in the line of duty Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.
Detective Greg Ferency was a 30-year veteran, Terre Haute police said Wednesday night.
Ferency was “ambushed and fatally shot” about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at the FBI Indianapolis Resident Agency in Terre Haute, a statement issued Wednesday night by Paul Keenan, a special agent in charge at FBI Indianapolis, says. Ferency had been a federal task force officer since 2010, Keenan’s statement says.
