An elaborate Sassa scheme in which an unknown Durban official allegedly recruited and later duped hundreds of unsuspecting poor people has been unearthed.
Four South African Social Security Agency officials in the Eastern Cape were each granted R2 000 bail in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Gqeberha on Friday.
The accused - Philani Kwatsha, Mzivukile Galela, Mzwamadoda Ngoqo and Vunyiwe Toto - appeared in the Port Elizabeth Specialised Commercial Crime Court on charges of fraud.
