senate hearings that we ve all watched, he s hedged when asked directly if he thinks the president is a racist. do you think, david, that he was trying to stay on brand for a lack of a better phrase or was he trying to walk fine line knowing he cannot alienate voterses he needs for the nomination? sure. i think he is walking a fine line and you re right. that being said, i think it s reasonable for someone like himself to take the position that when you re looking at someone s words and deeds, it s fair to say i don t know what sn in their heart. go ahead. could, but could any hedging as he s running to be president, could it hurt him come 2020? where so much of their base is
extremely well, because democrats are engaging a new demographic. and that s why they ll do well. democrats are engaging a new demographic in nevada, in arizona, in north carolina, in virginia, and if they can get that blue wall, then they have a road map to win. and so i would say, to that point, you know, democrats have abandoned that traditional working class, you know, labor, bad luck vote, right? i like i always say, in 2016, the president won because of the big short voters, right? the book and the movie. that part of america was left behind by wall street. the folks that had their house foreclosed on and the banks kind of took advantage. i think people watched those movies and said, hey, i identify with that. and the president went into those states and he had a message, an economic opportunity that really resonated with those voterses. if the president doesn t get back to that, there will be problems. i think when you return to that message, it s the only one you re going t
wave because women as voters and candidates are crucial to this midterm election southbound cycle. so to that effect, how confident are they that the surge in female candidates will translate into widespread wins for democrats and more importantly for some of the key issues that they are fighting for. we ve had a gender gap in voting in the presidential election since 1980. in polls this cycle alone, we have seen democrats leading among women voters by an average of 20 percentage points. so i think democrats are confident that women, not only as voterses but as candidates will help them across the finish line come november. i know next year is shaping.in terms of diversity. what could we see in the wake of midterms in terms of the ethnic and religious and gender composition of a new u.s. congress? you know, women and
