INEC The National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday, disclosed that it has created additional 440 polling units in Bayelsa State, taking the total number in the state to 2,244 polling units. While the additional units create access for more voters, the commission said it was expanding voter access to polling units by converting existing voting points and settlements into polling units. Speaking at a stakeholders meeting on Expansion of Voters Access to Polling Units Exercise in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Dr. Cyril Omorogbe, said INEC had seized the opportunity to relocate existing polling units to places where they were more accessible to the voters and decongest the existing ones. ....
Share Anambra state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has disclosed that the commission would relocate 1,112 Polling Units in Churches, House of political office holders, traditional rulers houses, and others in the state. This was made known on Monday by the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commission REC Mr. Nkwachukwu Orji during a Stakeholders Forum on Expansion of Voters Access to Polling Units in Anambra, held at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka. According to him, such polling units situating in inappropriate places hinder voters’ access to voting during elections. “Those polling units in such inappropriate places are not good for our elections. Most time, people see them as personal polling units. We want to make the polling units accessible to all voters,” he said. ....

He disclosed this at a Stakeholders’ Forum meeting on “Expansion of Voters Access to Polling Units” held at the INEC state headquarters, Birnin Kebbi.
