VADODARA: About 24 black-headed ibis were found dead in a lake in Dabhasa village of Padra taluka on Thursday afternoon. Locals said that the birds started falling dead in the lake spreading panic in the area. Volunteers of Wildlife Rescue Trust (WRT) reached the spot and began fishing out the dead birds.
“We immediately informed the forest officials and handed over the bird carcasses to them. There were no injury marks on the birds,” said Arvind Pawar of WRT. The birds have been sent for post-mortem and their samples too have been collected to ascertain if they were infected with bird flu. ....
