Renovations of a longtime Hendersonville shopping center are nearly finished with more redevelopment for the property planned around a road project. The awkward intersection of West Main Street with Walton Ferry on one side and Old Shackle Island Road on the other will be realigned in a project that has right-of-way acquisition underway, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Right-of-way included the old Volunteer State Bank that is now demolished, TDOT spokesperson Kathryn Schulte said. The road project is designed to improve efficiency, safety and traffic flow, Hendersonville officials said. “However, the improvement to the intersection will most likely encourage additional investment and redevelopment within the West Main corridor,” Planning Director Keith Free said. ....
Franklin Bank & Trust Co. announced that Dave Wolfe will join the bank as executive vice president and chief credit officer Dec. 30. Current Chief Credit Officer Kirk Pierce will transfer to the role of executive vice president and chief lending officer. Wolfe has more than 33 years of community banking experience. He has worked with Farmers National Bank in Scottsville and most recently served as chief financial officer and chief operating officer at Volunteer State Bank and Volunteer Bancshares Inc. in Portland, Tenn. FBI Agents say the suspect most recently robbed the United Community Bank in Etowah, North Carolina on Nov. 27. The FBI says the same man has robbed 15 other banks in North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee in the past 10 years. ....
