In the run-up to the Victory Day celebrations, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko presented state awards to distinguished Belarusians on 5 May. The president noted that the ceremony was traditionally timed to the most esteemed holiday for all Belarusians, especially for the older generation - Great Victory Day.
Sixty-two representatives from various fields of activity will be presented with state awards. The corresponding decree was signed by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 10 April.
