Virtual Baccalaureate Set for May 14 2 days ago • May 11, 2021 By Larry Isch Posted in About University of the Ozarks will present a virtual Baccalaureate service at 5 p.m., Friday, May 14, as part of its Spring 2021 Commencement Week events. The service will be livestreamed and available for viewing on the University’s Facebook page and Youtube channel. A long-standing tradition at Ozarks, Baccalaureate is a one-hour service honoring the graduating class. The service will be led by University Chaplain Rev. Jeremy Wilhelmi. The Rev. Wambugu Gachungi, a 2007 Ozarks graduate and the father of 2021 Ozarks graduate Vivien Wambugu, will deliver the sermon. Gachungi is the associate pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa, Oklahoma. ....

I was afraid to meet new people and talk,” she said. “Before Ozarks, I would be uncomfortable to put myself into a conversation or start one. Since I’ve been at Ozarks, I’ve grown to make what was uncomfortable, comfortable. Now I find myself going down the sidewalk and having a conversation with anyone. The health science major from Tulsa, Okla., was accepted into four of the top global health graduate programs in the country George Washington University, Vanderbilt University, Duke University and University of North Carolina. She eventually selected Duke’s Master of Science in Global Health Program. “I was pretty torn between Vanderbilt and Duke because they both offer such great programs and opportunities,” Wambugu said. “My roommate, Crystal Oudomvilay, and I took a week-long trip to visit both schools, as well as the graduate school she got into.
