Uvalde, but people across the state. i just met a couple that came from mission, texas it was a four and a half hour drive to come and just did that to lay flowers and share their grief with the family. but you mentioned. we are now in the period going through funerals. there are visitations underway. first two visitations of two 10-year-olds. she was a girl scout. she was someone who her family said had a heart of fwold. one thing we know is her family says she died a hero. she was trying to call 911 from inside that classroom when her grandmother says she was shot. we also know she was someone that wanted to be a marine biologist and study at texas a&m university. a piece of her obituary read those who know and love her were blessed with her friendly soul. that s what s being honored as people come out to not only this memorial site, but at the town ....
Joyce vance. sam, while federal investigators are looking into the police response to this mass shooting, we are hearing stories about the day as the community attends services for loved ones. tell us what s going on down there. this is a community in grief. this will go on over week. in 30 minutes, it will be one week since the gunman came here and tore through the hallways. there are eight services today. everything from funerals to masses to visitations. as you move down the street, there s a funeral home. it was the site where the first few shots were fired according to authorities. later today, family members will be gathered at that funeral home to take in the visitations and try to pay their respects to the people who died in this massacre. we know there are at least two funerals today. ....
Repeatedly called 911 pleading for help. you cry and you mourn harder here because they didn t have a chance. the first funerals for the victims in the mass school shooting in uvalde were held today. one week after a gunman stormed robb elementary. when that casket closes and they lower it down, for me it s the realization you won t be able to touch them again. one more hug, one more kiss, one more good-bye. the funeral expenses for every family are being covered at no cost thanks to an anonymous donor. off the top of my head, i couldn t tell you how many, but i think one every day. father eduardo morales says he will preside at 12 funeral services for victims over the next two weeks. today, visitations or funerals were held for at least four students and one teacher. nobody should ever have to go through this hardship. you know, and something that could have very well been ....
Point he knew what had happened. in addition to those two visitations and rosaries, the beloved teacher, one of two teachers shot and killed last week, irma garcia, 48 years old, her visitation and rosary expected to be held later today. she was a teacher at the school for 23 years and it was just a few days after her shooting death that her husband died as well. these are just a handful of the victims from last week s tragedy. and it was just a short time ago that our affiliate, kbbwaio spoke with one of irma garcia s friends. listen to what she had to say. i just looked out the window, and i see this guy with a gun walking up. and i just told my class, get on the ground. get on the ground. get to the corner. i just kept hearing shots fired. i just kept praying god, please don t let him come in my room. please don t let him come in this room. and for some reason, he didn t. ....
