The bodies of Bhavna and Vishal Patel, and their one-year-old daughter, Aishani, who were killed last month as the 12-storey South Champlain Towers in Surfside, Florida, condominium complex, where they lived, collapsed, were cremated July 15.
The ashes of the family will be scattered in the Atlantic Ocean, Trisha Devi, Bhavna Patelâs friend, told
India-West.
Devi had known Bhavna for more than seven years: her mother met Bhavna at the temple and introduced the two, who soon became fast friends.
âBhavna was such a wonderful person. She had a beautiful soul,â said Devi emotionally, remarking on the June 24 apparently hugely preventable tragedy, which has killed at least 97 people. Eleven others were injured, while 34 people were rescued. Search and rescue efforts are still ongoing to find another eight people.

REVEALED: Developers of doomed Miami condo tower were accused of PAYING OFF officials to get permits as Miami urges inspections of all buildings taller than six stories and over 40 years old within 45 days
Developers of the Miami tower that collapsed were previously accused by building rivals of paying off officials to get permits, according to a Washington Post investigation
The developers bypassed a construction moratorium in 1979 by agreeing to pick up half of the $400,000 sewer repair tab
Other developers, whose projects were still stalled, believed the tower s developers were getting preferential treatment and accused of them paying off officials in campaign donations
Authorities identified Antonio Lozano, 83, his wife Gladys Lozano, 79, Manny Lafont, 54 and Stacy Fang, 54, as four of the five people who died in the deadly Miami condo collapse.
Faces of the missing: Surgeon and his adopted daughter, a Bay of Pigs veteran and a woman who called her husband screaming as the Miami condo collapsed are among 156 people still unaccounted for
Officials said they were finding remains of humans on the site where 12 stories came crashing down on top of each other - and they were turning to DNA technology to determine peoples identities
There was still hope that people would be found in air pockets in the rubble, which throughout Saturday still smoldered and even caught fire, but as time goes on, the mood has gotten more ominous
