Regional daily Virumaa Teataja says that a recent incident involving British soldiers based in Tapa, Lääne-Viru County, is, according to its sources, not an isolated one and that other cases of behavior that some local residents say they find unacceptable have also been reported, while the issue has already been discussed at higher levels.
The director of a local high school told the daily (link in Estonian) that British soldiers had been seen smoking on the premises of the school s sports stadium, while fights between soldiers and rowdy, drunk behavior has also been reported. ....

Daily: Tapa scene of weekend brawl between British soldiers and local men

A brawl broke out Saturday night involving several British soldiers and local residents and required the attendance of military police personnel, regional daily Virumaa Teataja reports.
Tauno Lempu, Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) patrol chief in nearby Rakvere, told the daily (link in Estonian) that the alarm center was notified at around 8 p..m that a fight had broken out in a Tapa eatery, involving both British soldiers and some local men, while military police (Sõjaväepolitsei) were already on the scene and had the situation under control – which included the use of handcuffs on one local resident – by the time the PPA patrol arrived. ....

Mass vaccination failed in Ida-Viru County but was popular elsewhere

Only 10 percent of the vaccine doses allocated for Ida-Viru County were given out during Easter weekend s mass vaccinations, regional newspapers have reported. Experts believe this was due to concerns around the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Regional newspaper Põhjarannik wrote (link in Estonian) wrote that in the Ida-Viru Central Hospital only 32 people were vaccinated in three days.
Director of the Hospital Infection Control Service Natalia Nikitina said that people living in the county have a low level of trust in the AstraZeneca vaccine. If the hospital could offer other manufacturer s vaccines then there would have been a higher uptake.
