Mumbai: A major fire broke out at a
COVID-19 centre in Virar in the neighbouring
Palghar district in the wee hours of Friday.
According to the Corona Control Room of the
Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation, at least 13 patients have succumbed to the blaze.
As per the preliminary information, the fire broke out in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Vijay Vallabh COVID care hospital around 3 am. The fire was reportedly preceded by an explosion in the AC unit of the ICU.
Soon after, the affected patients were shifted to nearby hospitals. ....

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 23 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered an inquiry into the major fire incident at Vijay Vallabh COVID care hospital in the Virar area of Palghar district which led to the death of 13 patients.
Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray ordered an inquiry into the fire incident at Vijay Vallabh COVID care hospital in Virar, Chief Minister s Official statement said.
The cause of the fire should be properly investigated.He also directed the administration to immediately inquire whether the fire safety was adequate and whether it was a private hospital, the statement added. ....

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered an inquiry into the major fire incident at Vijay Vallabh COVID care hospital in the Virar area of Palghar district which led to the death of 13 patients.
