Seven engineering majors, including L&T, IRCON International and J Kumar Infraprojects, have been declared as the lowest bidders for 11 construction contracts of the 96.47-km-long Phase 1 of the 126-km Virar-Alibag Multimodal Corridor (VAMC). The budget has an outlay of Rs 6,00,522 crore, an estimated revenue deficit of Rs 9,734 crore and fiscal deficit of Rs 99,288 crore. The budget outlay was 9.7 per cent higher than the budget estimate for the year 2023-’24.
