American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture announces 'Book of the Year' selection

In this âdairy-tale,â a young boy named Chuck wishes for all the ice cream he can eat, prompting his âDairy Godmotherâ to show up to grant his wish with a dairy farm, where he gets a firsthand look at all the hard work and care that goes into producing his favorite treat.
Butler struggled to read growing up, but once she figured it out, she couldnât stop. âChuckâs Ice Cream Wishâ is her first published book. She works in education and lives in the suburbs with her family.
Butler said, âIâm so grateful for this award. I hope the story can help young readers understand the hard work that goes into making our meals possible.â ....

The 2021 Indiana Farm Bureau Book of the Year is
âTales of the Dairy Godmother: Chuckâs Ice Cream Wish,â written by Viola Butler with art by Ward Jenkins. The annual Book of the Year is a part of INFBâs Agriculture in the Classroom program, a grassroots outreach program to promote agricultural literacy to school children in Indiana.
The INFB 2021 Book of the Year selection committee was made up of five experienced and enthusiastic Agriculture in the Classroom volunteers and teachers. The selected book led the evaluation scores by portraying a realistic view of agriculture while providing suitable content for elementary school children. ....
