Kolkata, Feb 24 : Churchill Brothers headed back to the summit of the I-League table after beating NEROCA FC 1-0 at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan here on Wednesday.
Hero of the Match Clayvin Zuniga s 16th-minute strike from a well-built team move was enough to give Fernando Varela s side all three points in a game full of chances. With this win, the Red Machines have also secured themselves a top-six spot in the first phase of the I-League.
The
Red Machines began their pre-season in Goa from the second week of November and are set to play their season opener on January 10th against Indian Arrows, a team Varela classified as one of the competitive sides he has faced.
Having arrived Kolkata just a few days ago to undergo quarantine, he said, I think it s not the best option to be ready in one week.
