UNICOMER (OECS) Limited continues to make good on its commitment to provide much needed relief and support to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), following the volcanic eruption of La Soufriere, which left many residents abandoned and displaced.

Unicomer (St. Lucia) Limited led the charge immediately following the first eruption, sending emergency supplies to the Unicomer St Vincent staff. Managing Director, Mr. Vincent Gordon stated that, “Following the eruption, we rushed to ensure that the needs of our team members were met, quickly shipping disaster supplies for them and their families. However, we couldn’t stop there. Our Courts brands have been a part of the Kingstown community for years. We felt compelled to act, and solicited extended support from a key sister company in the Caribbean.”
BVI assistance for SVG
A number of civic organisations in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) have come together under the banner of the BVI NGO St. Vincent Volcano Relief Consortium, to mount a coordinated effort to mobilise support for volcano-ravaged St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
According to a release from that unified body, the BVI community generously gave relief supplies to the people of St. Vincent with an estimated value of over US$25,000.
The shipment was scheduled to depart BVI on today, Friday, April 23rd, to arrive in SVG by Monday, April 26.

THE U.S. government has mobilized a multi-tier, interagency approach to bring much needed relief to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) recently announced an increase of US$100,000 in disaster relief for people affected by violent eruptions of the La Soufrière volcano.
