Grocery kits given to transgenders under Samanvaya initiative Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The police through their Samanvaya platform on Friday distributed grocery kits to nearly 80 transgender persons to help them tide over difficulties during the COVID-19 restriction period. The police initiated Samanvaya platform on May 21 with a helpline Ph: 9480802300 for non-resident Indians and Indian expatriates in the event of their relatives or friends in the district needing any assistance during the pandemic. After distributing the kits, Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar said that the helpline had so far responded to 23 important calls and arranged for the required assistance to the concerned. ....
Movement of heavy vehicles via Mahakalipadpu banned till June 19 Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The police have banned the movement of heavy vehicles, including buses, between National Highway 66-Mahakalipadpu-Morgan’s Gate with immediate effect till June 19 to facilitate the construction of railway underbridges and connecting road. Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar, in his capacity as Additional District Magistrate, has issued orders to this effect under the Indian Motor Vehicles Act and Karnataka Motor Vehicles Rules. Heavy goods vehicles and buses have to operate via Pumpwell (Bhagavan Mahaveer) Circle, he said. ASI dies of complications from injury suffered in accident in 2018 Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA B. Narayana Naik, 58, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) with the Mangaluru Traffic West (Pandeshwar) police, on Sunday died of complications from a road accident injury that occurred in October 2018. Mr. Naik had suffered head injuries while on patrol duty at Padavinangadi on October 10, 2018. He resumed duty after three months. However, a couple of months ago, he developed complications and got admitted again, and slipped into a coma. Mr. Naik succumbed to the injuries on Sunday morning. He leaves behind his wife and two daughters. A native of Padakodi in Bantwal tauk, Mr. Naik joined the police in 1989 as a constable after completing PU. He was promoted as an ASI in September 2018. ....
