Streamwood held a solemn ceremony Sunday honoring Americans who gave their lives in service to the country, paying special tribute to the POW-MIA community. "This idea is to keep Memorial Day from becoming just another holiday," said Navy veteran Kathryn Serbin.

Streamwood village trustee candidates John D. Gallione and Mark L. Whipple have been removed from the ballot after a determination of deficiencies in their nominating petitions, leaving the April 6 race uncontested for now.
Village Clerk Kittie Kopitke said she s received no notification of appeals to the decision or filings for write-in candidacies. The deadline for the latter is Feb. 4.
On the ballot are incumbent trustees Michael Baumer and William Harper, along with prior trustee candidate Rezwanul Haque.
Kopitke and Village President Billie Roth also are uncontested in their reelection bids.

Not much seemed business as usual in 2020, but one thing that hasn t changed is our annual tradition of reaching out to Northwest suburban mayors and village presidents to ask them what their community accomplished in the year gone by and something they hope to accomplish in the year ahead.
