DuPage County municipalities refuse to discuss illegal immigrant crisis

In DuPage County, numerous municipalities have declined to respond to a DuPage Policy Journal inquiry concerning their policies on illegal immigration. Municipalities that refrained from disclosing their stance on the issue include Aurora, Batavia, Darien, Elmhurst, Geneva, Naperville, Oakbrook Terrace, St. Charles, Warrenville, West Chicago, Wheaton, Wood Dale, Addison, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Burr Ridge, Carol Stream, Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove and several others.

Village of Wayne Mayor Phipps: We do not currently have any ordinances in place as we have no available resources to house migrants

The Village of Wayne, Illinois, has no plans to accept illegal immigrants, as stated by Mayor Eileen Phipps. In an interview with DuPage Policy Journal, Phipps explained that the village lacks the necessary facilities to accommodate illegal immigrants.

Headlines for Monday, October 31st

Wayne County Sheriff's Deputies have caught up with 26 year old Quila Marie Hart of Noble. The Richland County woman was wanted on a failure to appear warrant that dates back to late July of this year. She was originally charged with Domestic Battery with intent to cause Bodily Harm. She was due in court in September but failed to show up. Authorities found Hart earlier this month and she was in court last week. A 35 year old Fairfield man is behind bars facing charges of Criminal Trespass and Damage to Government Supported Property. Shannon Lee Cone allegedly committed the offenses on October 14th. The Trespass charge is a Class A Misdemeanor while the Damage charge levied against Cone is a Class 3 Felony. He's yet to submit a plea and will be due in court on December 1st before Judge Molt. States Attorney Kevin Kakac is the prosecuting attorney. $5,000 cash bail is required for Cone's release. An accident on Saturday left both vehicles involved with significant damage.

The Fairfield City Council The Fairfield City Council met for their regular meeting last night with all members present. Although there were only 3 agenda items to be addressed, discussion on some of the items was lengthy. The council reviewed a proposed ordinance regarding the placement of storage containers on residential property. This issue was briefly discussed at the last meeting with City Attorney Darren Rice instructed to draft a proposed ordinance. Some of the stipulations that are being proposed in the ordinance are: Can't exceed 30% of the property or 320 sq. ft., whichever is less; Must be painted a monochrome color with no visible lettering or signage; Placed to minimize visibility from the street; May only be placed in areas zoned R1, R2, or R3; May be altered but must retain structural integrity; Must be 7' from a structure - Applies to storage containers only. Truck bodies, etc. are still prohibited by ordinance. City Attorney Rice will draft the revised ordin
