‘Agriculture Acts 2020’ is written by former Madras HC judge A.K. Rajan
Dravidar Kazhagam president K. Veeramani on Saturday released a book, Agriculture Acts 2020, written by Justice A.K. Rajan, former judge of the Madras High Court.
The book is about the three controversial Central farm laws, which triggered massive protests by farmers in New Delhi.
Justice Rajan said the book was a concise work on the farm laws and batted for federalism. “The first thing you have to note is that India is a federal country. Not just now, but even 350 years before Christ, the Mauryan Empire controlled India, but not as a single nation. They had provinces and vassals. The Gupta Empire also ruled over provinces. In modern times, the Europeans divided India into Madras, Calcutta and Bombay provinces,” he said. ....

'Lose a Battle to Win the War'- Kisan Leaders

‘Lose a Battle to Win the War’- Kisan Leaders
Media propaganda
Sometimes one has the sense of sitting on history. And the massive farmers protest -with lakhs bringing out their tractors and marching to Delhi or state capitals across the country was one such momentous occasion. Except for the managed, or not, event at the Red Fort, the farmers responded with commendable discipline to the call by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha to join a march that India has not seen since independence.
It is sad and tragic that instead of grasping the importance of the Kisan Parade the media has again sought to belittle the people, exposing its ignorance and bias in the process. And present a distorted narrative as has been done for past protests and struggles by the people, and while some might exult in brownie points scored temporarily, the damage done to democracy in this process is immense. As always. For in trying to damp down a protest, we are belittling the millions of people ....

Farmers Counter Vilification Campaigns, Decide to Intensify Protests

Farmers Counter Vilification Campaigns, Decide to Intensify Protests
Counter campaign cuts into propaganda against farmers
All the attempts to vilify and brand the ongoing farmers’ movement as Khalistani and anti-national have failed because of a strong counter campaign.
Day after day the propaganda has sought to label the farmers as Khalistanis,to anti nationals, Naxalites, Maoists and those supported by Pakistan and China. But it has found few takers.
“People themselves are coming out to counter such narratives as they have seen through the campaign of the right wing and how the accusations have shifted. In addition to this we have been distributing booklets and pamphlets explaining what this whole agitation is all about and what the farmers are seeking. The government stands exposed for its attempts to malign the peaceful movement,” All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) leader Vijoo Krishnan said in response to a query by The Citizen. ....

SC ought to have stayed farm laws: All India Kisan Sabha
The farmer group pointed out that a stay on the farm laws would have been the constructive role expected from the Supreme Court to resolve the deadlock between the farmers and central government

All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), one of the constituent organisations of the farmers coalition that is carrying out protests in the national capital region of Delhi against the central government s recent farm bills has said the Supreme Court s directive to allow farmers to exercise their right to protest peacefully alone may not resolve the current deadlock. ....
