Vigan City shifts to MECQ due to soaring COVID-19 cases

VIGAN CITY, May 24 (PIA) - The provincial government of Ilocos Sur placed the Heritage City of Vigan under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) beginning May 22 until June 5, 2021 amid soaring coronavirus cases.
Governor Ryan Luis Singson reclassified the city s quarantine status through Executive Order No. 41.
Vigan City was initially under the more lenient general community quarantine (GCQ) from May 16 to May 29.
Last week, Governor Singson also upgraded the quarantine status of Candon City from GCQ to MECQ until May 29.
